The showcase will take place on 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟐:𝟑𝟎𝐏𝐌 -𝟒:𝟑𝟎𝐏𝐌 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝟖 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐍𝐘, 𝟏𝟎𝟗𝟐𝟎.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬:
Acclaimed visiting artist 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐫 and his team will put on a traditional shadow puppet performance. This unique and ancient delight of Shadow Puppet theater art of Kerala is dedicated to Bhagavati, the Mother Goddess, and based on the Ramayana. The puppets used in the performance are made from deerskin, held up by a thin stick, and manipulated by trained puppeteers behind the illuminated screen.
𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞 will be performing a classic Kathak. Both a dancer and choreographer, she has trained in the classical Indian arts since early childhood (the age of 4) and is a practitioner of the Lucknow Gharana style of Kathak. She began her training in her hometown of Houston, Texas, and is currently pursuing more in-depth training in Kathak under the guidance of Vidushi Renu Sharma. Outside of her artistic endeavors, Sanika is a software engineer, recently graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S.E. In Electrical and Computer Engineering. She was also mentioned recently in the Times of India for her literary contributions to the impact of social media on the classical arts.
𝐓𝐞𝐣𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐞 is a New York City-based musician. He has been studying Tabla since the age of 5 under the tutelage of his Guru, Pandit Samir Chatterjee. He has also been taught by Ustad Zakir Hussain over the last 12 years. Tejas has proudly performed nationally and internationally at some of the most prestigious venues. Tejas also plays the Pakhawaj, another type of drum with origins in North India. He has studied the Pakhawaj under the guidance of Pandit Mohan Shyam Sharma, Pandit Manik Munde, and Shri Pratap Awad.
