One of the most widely performing Sarod players of the modern era, Indrayuddh Majumder, has been learning Sarode from his father, the world-renowned Sarod Maestro, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, since he was five years old. He has also been receiving vocal guidance from his mother, Vidushi Dr. Manasi Majumder, who is a renowned Indian Classical Vocalist. Initially, he had also received taalim (lessons) from his grandfather Late Ranjan Majumder. He had the fortune of receiving taalim on Laya & Taal (Rhythm) from the world-renowned Tabla Maestro, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, whom we have lost recently.
He represents the Senia Maihar Gharana (School of Music), which was founded by one of the greatest saints of Indian Classical Music, Acharya Baba Ustad Allauddin Khan and popularized by his worthy disciples Swara Samrat Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar, Annapurna Devi, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Ustad Bahadur Khan and others.
Indrayuddh is the FIRST INDIAN to receive the prestigious Salon Di Virtuosi Award in New York, which is awarded annually to the Best Classical Musicians across the globe. He was handed over this award after a special concert at the Consulate General of India - New York on 7th June, 2018.
He is already a regular performer all across India, USA and UK. By this young age he has already performed in the major cities like Boston, New York, London, Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Dallas, Atlanta, Liverpool and Manchester among others.
Indrayuddh had the privilege to perform in front of Dr. Manmohan Singh (the former PM of India). He also had the privilege to perform along with Tabla Maestros Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Pt. Subhankar Banerjee and Pt. Bickram Ghosh.
Indrayuddh Majumder, an MBA (Marketing) by academic qualification, had developed keen interest in every genre of music right from his childhood. He has taken up Sarod as his primary choice because of his sheer love for the instrument and Indian Classical Music. He concentrates on maintaining the purity of Indian Classical Music coupled with smart presentation in his concerts, which attract people of all ages.
